Each year, PCAU joins the nation in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month, in an effort to bring attention to child abuse and what is being done to prevent it. Governor Huntsman again offered his support, by signing the statewide proclamation for Child Abuse Prevention Month. Many other local entities recognize and support this month's activities, too. This year, PCAU is part of a new statewide awareness campaign, bringing attention to Utah's current prevention programs, and highlighting a few new ones that have shown to be effective in other states. PCAU is also part of Prevent Child Abuse America's campaign, "Pinwheels for Prevention," which highlights the need to focus more energy and resources on prevention methods, while continuing important intervention methods.
