PREVENT CHILD ABUSE 5K WALK

Thanks to all those who joined us for the First Annual Prevent Child Abuse 5K Walk on October 2, 2010.

  • Utah ranks 10th in the nation for confirmed child abuse cases.
  • There is a confirmed case every hour of every day in Utah.
  • 42 percent of victims were younger than 5 years old.
  • One in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before the age of 18.

These are shocking statistics but few people are aware of them. Even fewer know what they can do to help reduce these numbers. As concerned citizens, each of us can do something to bring awareness and prevent child abuse in our communities. It takes one step. And then another.
