Ogden, UT, June 2011 -- Prevent Child Abuse Utah has received $100,000 from Walmart Foundation as part of the Associate Choice Program, an online campaign where Walmart associates voted directly for a nonprofit to receive funding in their home state. The grant will help Prevent Child Abuse Utah provide free child abuse prevention schools to schools and community centers throughout Utah.

The six week voting program awarded $5 million in grants to statewide organizations across the U.S.

Prevent Child Abuse Utah (PCAU) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to break the cycle of abuse through education and training at a statewide level. Programs include classroom discussion, visual aids as well as videos and other interactive activities. PCAU also offers in-service training for school personnel in Utah schools. Training focuses on helping teachers recognize the signs of child abuse, making sure teachers know where to report the abuse and also what community resources are available for students and families.
